Swipen is three years old!
Our first three years have certainly had their ups and downs. From our launch in August 2019 and into a global pandemic, to becoming a multi award-winning company. Through it all, I’ve always known Swipen would be one of the best payment service providers (PSPs) in the country.
But, I’m not going to wax lyrical about our successes over the past three years (you can look back over our other blogs for all the great news). Instead, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the key team behind Swipen.
Fraser Mitchell – Managing Director
My friend, Lorne, and I had been working with some of the world’s leading PSPs. There was a niche in the market and we chose to build Swipen, a PSP that could offer a truly innovative and bespoke solution to suit each client’s business.
As MD, I bring with me many years of experience in management and sales. I ensure the team is happy, and drive the business forward so that we’re always at the forefront of the industry.
I was born and still live in Scotland. Outside of work, I am a qualified pilot and enjoy flying single engine planes. I also like spending time with my son and new puppy, Bob.
Lorne McConnachie – Sales Director
Lorne is a young professional and his knowledge of the payments industry – its flaws, perfections and associated technology – is second to none. As our Sales Director, he is liked and respected by customers and partners alike.
Lorne was also born in Scotland where he still lives. In his free time, he enjoys playing poker, video games, and watching NFL.
Will Hammond – Operations Director
Will joined us in June 2020. He brings to the team his experience with technology, e-commerce and financial services. Will is a young professional with a great work ethic. His expertise with communication, negotiation, administration, and client relations have made him an invaluable asset.
Will lives in south-east England with his girlfriend and pet sheep. Outside of work, he’s a keen sportsman and captain of a hockey and cricket team in London.
Sara Holloway – Graphic Designer & Marketing Manager
Sara designed Swipen’s brand and logo when we first launched in 2019. She graduated as a graphic designer, but also has many years experience in marketing B2B. Sara is now responsible for all our design and brand requirements, including our social media presence, and manages Swipen’s marketing strategy. After her first year with us, we won Marketing Campaign of the Year at the Payments Awards 2021.
Sara lives in the South of France with her husband and cat. Outside of work, she is a singer and musician, and likes taking bike rides and building Lego sets.
Linkon Axon – ISV Partner Manager
Linkon joined the Swipen team in June 2021. He is responsible for developing strong partnerships with Swipen’s existing ISVs, and establishing strategic business and technical relationships with new ISV partners. Linkon is perfect for this role due to his great work ethic, professionalism, and friendly personality.
Linkon is originally from Australia, but moved to Scotland many years ago where he lives with his wife and children. Outside of work, he likes clay pigeon shooting, wild swimming, and has a black belt in martial arts.
Simon Graham – Support Manager
Simon also joined us in June 2021. He heads up our support team, responsible for answering client questions, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining excellent customer service. He is ideal for this role as he is conscientious and likes to go the extra mile for customers.
Simon lives in Scotland with his wife. Outside of work, he enjoys music concerts, travel, and being a taxi driver to his teenage daughter.
Florin Ciobanu – Lead Developer
Florin joined us in March 2022 and heads up our team of software developers. He has a BA in Computer Programming and is responsible for designing and building Swipen’s internal systems (CRM) and client-facing, innovative gateway software.
Florin is originally from Romania and moved to the UK in 2012 where he lives with his wife and children. Outside of work, he likes fishing, gardening and playing computer games.
Three years and counting…
The past three years have been hugely successful for Swipen. Our team is growing, we have over 3,000 happy customers and partners, and we’ve been recognised and celebrated by our peers within the payments industry. Our proudest moments have been helping our customers survive lockdowns and restrictions with payment solutions created just for them. None of our achievements would have been possible without this fantastic team behind Swipen.
